The Brazilian Clean Company Act (BCCA) celebrated its five-year anniversary in August. This law created corporate liability for corruption and certain conducts against public affairs such as fraud involving government contracts. It also enhanced the authorities’ enforcement activities by creating incentives for companies to cooperate with investigations and voluntarily self-report any eligible events under BCCA, and allowed companies to seek leniency agreements by admitting violations and (1) identifying other involved parties, and (2) providing evidence related to violations.
