You may have heard that the EU passed its comprehensive Artificial Intelligence (AI) Act in March 2024, and it is expected to officially become a law by May or June. This comes on the heels of the U.S. Executive Order on the Safe, Secure, and Trustworthy Development and Use of Artificial Intelligence that was signed in October 2023.[1] The new rules aim to “foster trustworthy AI in Europe and beyond by ensuring that AI systems respect fundamental rights, safety, and ethical principles and by addressing risks of very powerful and impactful AI models.”[2]
