StarKist fined USD 100 million for price-fixing scandal

Barely a month after StarKist Co. told a judge in the U.S. District Court in San Francisco, California, that it would not be able to pay the U.S. Justice Department’s proposed USD 100-million criminal fine, the DOJ announced that it was indeed levying the proposed fine, which is the statutory maximum. StarKist was also sentenced to thirteen months of probation.
