US Trade Representative initiates investigation into Vietnam

On Oct. 2, the United States Trade Representative announced an investigation under Section 301 of the 1974 Trade Act.[1] The investigation will look into currency devaluation, as well as the alleged illegal import of timber. The investigation is being conducted under the same statutes that gave the U.S. legal standing to impose tariffs on China.
