I had just taken my seat on the plane for a recent trip to another Society of Corporate Compliance and Ethics conference when I observed an interesting behavior. A passenger was pummeling his backpack in a violent manner, attempting to wedge it into a much-too-small space in the overhead compartment, clearly not wanting to have to check the bag. When a flight attendant approached, the passenger said, “Don’t worry, it’s just a laptop; I don’t own it.”
