US and China inch closer to trade deal, despite actions against Huawei and other companies

The United States and China hope to finalize a trade deal by the end of the first week of April, in order to take advantage of Chinese special envoy Liu He’s visit to Washington, D.C. Although details have not been publically released, a deal would most likely involve major purchases by state-owned Chinese companies of U.S. commodities and a suspension of most tariffs imposed by both nations in 2018.
