Third parties are high on everyone’s list of potential risk, but there’s one category that is often viewed through the wrong lens: professional advisors. True, we are usually assessing the risk that they pose to our company through vicarious liability for fraud or corruption. But should we be asking more penetrating questions? After all, what service providers are closer to the compliance team than lawyers and accountants?
