On paper, Chandler Bing wasn’t the most interesting or exciting TV character. He was a little neurotic, socially awkward at times, and had a boring job (no one seemed to know what he did for a living). So, why is he one of the most beloved characters in sitcom history? He was funny. He was sarcastic and acerbic and used his wit as a defense mechanism when faced with uncomfortable situations to the comedic benefit of the television audience.
