Leading shipping group rules out Northern Sea Route

French shipping giant CMA CGM S.A. has announced it will not use the Northern Sea Route that stretches across the Arctic Circle. The route, a priority for Russian President Vladimir Putin, is currently open for part of the year due to decreased ice coverage. Although the route shortens traveling time between European and Asian markets, there are significant risks and uncertainties surrounding the route.
