Investigate the process, not the person

Most articles and presentations about investigations focus on investigating individuals to determine whether fraud, corruption, or other non-compliance occurred. But, as compliance professionals, our job is not to investigate individuals. It’s to investigate processes.

Let’s use a real-life example to illustrate what I mean. Those of you who have heard me speak at conferences may have heard this example before, but it’s so good that I will use it here too.
