Fashion labels re-think cashmere supply chain

Reports of widespread desertification of Northern China and the steppes of Mongolia have focused media and company attention on the goats raised there to provide hair for the cashmere industry. The goats graze over green land quite quickly, and the herds have grown so large due to demand in Europe and the U.S. that more than 60% of Mongolia’s pasture land is degraded or unusable.
