◆ In a new Medicare transmittal (12,202), CMS introduced a new place of service (POS) code (27) for “Outreach Site/Street.”[1] POS 27 is defined as “a non-permanent location on the street or found environment, not described by any other POS code, where health professionals provide preventive, screening, diagnostic, and/or treatment services to unsheltered homeless individuals.”
◆ Optimus Health Care, Inc., a federally qualified health center (FQHC) based in Bridgeport, Connecticut, has agreed to pay $470,093 to settle allegations it submitted false claims to Medicaid over ineligible services, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Connecticut said Aug. 9.[2] The allegations relate to claims submitted to Connecticut Medicaid for dual-eligible beneficiaries between January 2014 and December 2020.
