News Briefs: June 24, 2019

Nevada Heart & Vascular Center LLP, a Las Vegas cardiology practice, agreed to pay $2.5 million to settle false claims allegations, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Nevada said June 18. From Sept. 1, 2012, to May 31, 2013, Nevada Heart & Vascular Center allegedly referred Medicare patients to two genetic testing companies, Natural Molecular Testing Corp. and Iverson Genetic Diagnostics Inc., in exchange for payments from the testing companies. The arrangement allegedly violated the Anti-Kickback Statute, which gave rise to false claims, the U.S. attorney’s office said. The cardiology practice didn’t admit liability in the settlement.
