Using Data Analytics in Compliance Programs

Here is an example of data analytics used in compliance programs, although the numbers are fictional,[1] said Barry Grosse, who became vice president of audit, compliance, ethics and risk management at Augusta University in Georgia on Nov. 18. It shows how CMS’s MedPAR data can be used to compare physicians’ billing for evaluation and management (E/M) services against their peers. The shaded area represents where the physician is billing at a higher level compared to other physicians. Contact Grosse at agrosse@augusta.edu.
