German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Russian President Vladimir Putin met in Moscow and discussed the NordStream 2 project, which would bring natural gas from Russia to Germany and the rest of Europe.
The United States has threatened sanctions against any company helping to complete the project, a threat that forced European partners to pull out of the construction process. President Putin confirmed that the project would be delayed by several months, while both he and Chancellor Merkel committed themselves to completing the project, despite U.S. opposition.[1]
