CalvertHealth Medical Center Inc., in Maryland, has agreed to pay $775,306 in a civil monetary penalty settlement with the HHS Office of Inspector General (OIG). According to the settlement, which was obtained through the Freedom of Information Act, OIG contends that CalvertHealth submitted claims to Medicare, Medicaid and TRICARE for evaluation and management services related to anti-coagulation management that wasn’t medically necessary from July 1, 2013, through July 30, 2019.
