Concord Ophthalmologic Associates P.A., d/b/a Concord Eye Center, in New Hampshire agreed to pay $103,786 in a civil monetary penalty settlement with the HHS Office of Inspector General (OIG). According to the settlement agreement, which was obtained through the Freedom of Information Act, OIG alleged that Concord billed Medicare, Medicaid, and TRICARE for items or services that were false or fraudulent. According to OIG, between July 6, 2016, and May 28, 2019, Concord submitted false claims “for services provided by physicians who were not credentialed with the Programs under the provider numbers of physicians credentialed with the Programs who did not render the services.” The settlement stemmed from Concord’s self-disclosure to OIG. Concord didn’t admit liability in the settlement. Its attorneys didn’t respond to RMC’s request for comment.
