◆ CMS may be laying the groundwork to make the Acute Hospital Care at Home program, which is a product of the COVID-19 public health emergency, a permanent part of the Medicare landscape. A sign: CMS announced that the National Uniform Billing Committee (NUBC) has approved two codes specific to the Acute Hospital Care at Home program, and they take effect July 1, according to Medicare Transmittal 11191.[1] The two codes are (1) New Occurrence Span Code 82: Hospital at Home Care Dates (the from/through dates of a period of hospital at home care provided during an inpatient hospital stay) and (2) New Room and Board (R&B) Revenue Code Subcategory 0161: Hospital at Home, R&B/Hospital at Home.
