◆ Renown Health, a health system in Nevada, has agreed to pay $75,000 to settle a potential violation of the HIPAA privacy rule and implement a corrective action plan, the HHS Office for Civil Rights (OCR) said Feb. 10. This is the 15th settlement under OCR’s Right of Access Initiative. OCR said it received a complaint in February 2019 alleging Renown Health didn’t respond timely to a patient’s request to send an electronic copy of her protected health information to a third party. “As a result of OCR’s investigation, Renown Health provided access to all of the requested records,” OCR stated. Renown didn’t admit liability in the resolution agreement.[1]
