HHS on Dec. 4 announced a False Claims Act Working Group[1] to “enhance its partnership” with the Department of Justice (DOJ) and HHS Office of Inspector General. “That need for close coordination is always important but has taken on even greater salience now, as HHS administers significant supplemental funds to combat a historic pandemic,” HHS said in a news release. The working group is made up of former DOJ prosecutors and HHS attorneys and former private counsel for health care and life sciences companies. It’s unclear if lawyers who represent whistleblowers are included.
